"....Miley Cyrus, in shorts that would make Madonna blush, did a pole dance on the Teen Choice Awards...."

Sadly, a lot of parents still see her a some type of role model of purity for thier daughters.
Her father is a low-life jerk for allowing/encouraging this to happen.

I'm sorry, some things just aren't possible.

It is too bad she thinks that of herself. Miley’s fame had nothing to do with any sex appeal. She is just a normal looking kid, who can sing and played a likable character on a popular TV show. She became a big star with being anything but a sex symbol. But now she is slipping into the Britney Spears mold and is going to kill her self-confidence. It is a sad thing to see. She needs to embrace and be grateful for the stardom she has, and not act like someone desperately trying to keep it. She doesn’t have to slut herself out. If the fame fades away (which it will, no matter what), at least keep your dignity and self-respect.

So true. I was gonna suggest a better analogy. Or whatever you’d call that....

She held onto a pole but it was not a suggestive pole dance. She is not a talented dancer in any way.

On the other hand her vocal support for faggot lib instead of supporting Miss California is a big negative.

Her nose piercing is ugly.

She is still raking in the megamega millions so it is disappointing she just goes with the flow of the trendy set.

Agreed. That walking yeast infection (as Imus' sidekick calls her) has never blushed in her life. One needs to have a basic sense of decency in him/herself in order to be able to blush.

The entertainment industry is haven to the weird, bizarre and coarse element of society. Perfect role models to pattern our lives after. No wonder our country is screwed up.

In general, society is seeing defining deviancy down. Most popular entertainment dancing is more accurately described as acrobatics and somersaulting (which is animalistic in nature anyway) and young girls looking like hookers is the norm. I watched the Teen Choice show with my wife last night and most of the young ladies walking up to the stage to receive an award had very short skirts on but when they spoke you could tell they were just young girls playing dress up.

Who’s at fault? No one and everyone. Maybe there isn’t a fault and perhaps that pole was mostly to aid Miley Cyrus in keeping her balance.

I’d personally like to see a return of some decorum (and maybe we’ll see that eventually) but probably not in the pop forum because that’s simply for the very common and the artistically mundane but stimulating and exciting in a cheap way.

Don’t forget that those girls in short dresses are still just young girls and there was no real hardness in their voices.

Billy Ray Cyrus shouldn’t allow this behavior with his daughter and he should have never allowed that deviant (who is known for lesbian photo deviancy) to photo her daughter.

“....I watched the Teen Choice show with my wife last night...”

My daughter said someone was introduced as an “activist for choice” and a heroine to all. Did you catch that?

This is simply awful.
Is there a site from which I may download the video for my own critique?

Actually, after watching the video, this is WAY over-blown. And she most certainly was NOT doing a "pole dance". They pushed out an ice cream cart that they were using as a prop and she hung on to the pole sticking out of it as they moved it across the stage. Not one "stripper" dance move in her whole routine.

Music sucked, it's pop, but still had a pretty upbeat tone to it without the overt hyper-sexual crap I've come to expect from the genre.

Not my thing, but certainly not a "downfall of Western Civilization" either.

Well, no. I had the whole show on DVR and sped through most of the show (the exception being Miley Cyrus and the Jonas brothers - my wife likes them)...

I’ll tell you, Meghan Fox must really benefit from make up and the photographer’s magic touch because she didn’t seem so hot and her speaking skills are very insipid to say the least.

“Choice” is an easy topic to talk of with your youngsters. I tell my teenage son to behave himself with girls because if he gets a girl pregnant he’ll have virtually no say in the matter if she decides to have an abortion. Then I point to his 3 year old sister and say, it won’t be like you’ll have a little child like her, most likely the girl you get pregnant will hate your guts, never let you see the kid, make you pay child support and that’s if she decided to not have the baby killed and you won’t be able to stop her.

My teen son gets the message when I put it like that.

Abortion is an easy idea to defeat on a one on one level. General bad behavior is harder because in the short run (and that’s the only kind of thinking youngsters engage in) a little bit of naughtyness is no big deal.
