I think I had better round up a copy of "Rules" for myself. Mein Kampf was a #1 best seller (non-fiction) in May 1939 as people watched developments in Europe and wanted to know, "who is that guy?" (See partial list below from 5/1/39 NYT.) It would be nice to see a growing curiosity about Alinsky's book in the same way.

The various references to Hitler that I see these days reminds me of a jingle that made fun of him and his followers. I paraphrase the last line.

Don't be stupid.
Be a smarty.
Join the Obama democrat socialist party.

I have an edition of Mein Kampf from 1941 and one interesting observation in the introduction is that it is a propagandistic essay by a violent partisan. Also that it often warps historical truth and sometimes ignores it completely. In addition they say that no impression should be taken that Htler was writing history rather than propaganda. So far, similarities with other nationalist socialist parties, including the now openly socialist democrat Obama party, are not hard to detect or find in MEIN KAMPF.
