Little Bo Peep bride marries in stunning dress made of wool from her own flock of sheep

And the bride wore white - long, curly white strands of wool.

Louise Fairburn, who is an award-winning sheep breeder, decided to get married in a fleece from her own flock.

She designed the gown and took wool from her favourite rare Lincoln Longwool, Olivia.

And she extended the theme to the rest of her big day, putting her groom Ian, 42, in a waistcoat made from wool.

Mrs Fairburn even carried a Bo Peep-style crook and the ring bearer's cushion was made from a fleece....

my Grandmother Edith had a hat like this:

I had a feather hat when I was just starting college. It was similar, but much simpler and clean lines -- just a very smooth bell curve cloche, no defined crown or hatband, layered with feathers the same way they grow on a bird. Back then the big thing was a mini sheath with matching opaque tights, go-go boots and a stylish hat; pale lipstick and lots of black mascara. The fashion magazines had face shots of models wearing those feather hats giving that "do me" stare out from under the dangling ends of the feathers on the front of the brim -- all dark lashes and big pale lips, with the brows hidden by the brim -- or by Beatles bangs!

More wedding freakery today. A Chinese bride made it into Guiness. The ‘train’ on her dress was 7,093 feet long!

Yes -- a mile and an quarter long! They did it to beat a previous Guiness record -- but if you can't make it follow you when you walk, what is the use of it?

I finally found some photos of it this evening:

They just had it all folded up neatly into the size of a football field. Chinese aesthetics can be strange. I like the floral arches behind the couple, though.

...at least she didn’t pull the wool over the groom’s eyes.

LOL!! Doesn't look the least bit pregnant!

Seriously, I love the idea of their having a partnership business there. So many possibiities. ottbmare upthread mentioned the wonderful woolen textiles from the British Isles. I have a 40-year-old handspun, handwoven light woolen fringed wrap from Ireland that my long-departed aunt brought to my mother in 1969. I treasure it. I had an even older Scottish Black Stewart tartan muffler, but was devastated to lose it a couple of years ago, after wearing it every winter since 1966.

Using the natural locks of the wool is absolutely stunning. It's very beautiful. . . and completely unique.

I knew you would like it, cultured Anglophile lady!

Yep, I go there; mostly for the animal stories. I got tired of reading about another celebrity showing how naked they can get or how they out dumb one and another. LOL

wonder how many sticks of glue it will take?

This many? — for starters....

Just a note -- I don't expect you to recall, Iowa Granny, but you were one of the first FReepers I met not long after I signed onto FR, at the '04 Christmas party of the DC Chapter. It's nice to be in touch again!

I don’t think she’s trying to cover up a pregnancy—she just looks like a well-fleshed, hearty girl with a good appetite rather than someone with a baby bump. But if she really is pregnant, then good for her for marrying rather than trying to bring the baby up herself. I’m glad there’s a father and husband in the picture.

Michelle would have to wear layers of legal briefs.

And we would all know the definitive answer to the question: "Boxers or briefs?"
