While I agree it’s a striking image, I don’t see the connection between the Joker and socialism.
The Joker doesn’t have the least desire to control people, he just wants to have fun destroying things and killing people. That’s psychopathic nihilism, not socialism, although I realize there’s often a good bit of overlap for many people.

The main connection isn’t between the Joker and socialism, it’s between the Joker and concealed identity. Socialism comes in because Obama’s socialism is something he’s tried to keep hidden. The strength of the poster is that it “outs” him in two ways — in the fact that he’s a socialist and in the fact that he wishes to conceal it.
