By Bob Barragan

SNIPPET: “Some of the most common questions include:
Do I have to charge state sales tax for my service?
How do I collect and pay this tax?
Do I need a business plan?
Do I need a business license?
How do I pay federal tax on my business?
How and where can I get start-up capital?
These questions and many more will be answered during a two-hour seminar entitled First Step to Starting Your Own Business to be held in the SBDC office at 2424 Sam Houston Avenue, Building A, on Oct. 12 from 6-8 p.m. Some of the topics that will be discussed include how to legally file your business name, how to obtain a state sales tax permit, what an EIN number is, what kind of insurance do I need and how to obtain needed capital.
The importance of completing a feasibility study, a written business plan, and cash flow projections will also be discussed. Examples of these documents will be provided as well as a number of other handouts that could be useful in the planning of a new business.”
