Will Chevy build anything like this any more or will it be the Obamamobile?

OMG! Are those great! Thanks.
The fact that people can still think like this and that these bilboards aren't illegal means there's hope for America.

Thanks, seems like a million years ago. When I was in high school my best friends drove a 68 Camaro, a 68 GTO, and a 65 vette. Those were the days. My dad had a 69 LTD with a 390 under the hood. V8’s were the rule not the exception.

Have you seen “Gran Torino” yet? (the movie, I mean). Gotta see it..old Detroit neighborhoods and a classic American car. Thanks for the pics of the old Chevys.

I grew up during the golden age of American automobiles. The 50’s and 60’s. Goodness I loved those cars.
I remember my old 55 Ford with 272 would run like crazy and I could change the water pump in less than half an hour. I recently changed the one on my 302 and it took me two weeks and I had to take everything off the front of the engine. The newer ones are probably even worse.
The best car I ever had was a 65 Olds with 425 370HP engine. It went through my Father, my Brother, and finally me. I sold it with over 200,000 miles on it and it still ran like a bat out of hell. Never used oil and would cruise the interstate like it was idling.

...along these lines...do you folks have “cruise nights” in your area of the country? Where people with hot rods, customs, meet to hang out for a few hours on a weekly bases

Each August, ..... line Woodward Ave in Detroit for Cruise Weekend
That would be the WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE. I don't think there is anything like it in the world. From Eight mile rd. almost to Pontiac, that's well over EIGHT MILES of classic cars lining Woodward Ave. for that one day event. (not to worry tho, things start building up in that area the entire week leading up to Saturday.)
Myself, I wouldn't be caught dead over there due to the traffic congestion so I just catch the news reports........but it is AWESOME!

If you put any one of these cars into production today—just as they came off the line way back then—they could not build them fast enough to keep up with demand. I want someone to build me a new 1971 L88 Vette, Blk/BLK...

Here is one of Earl's concept cars:

It's the Oldsmobile F88. GM killed it because the Corvette was being designed that year. All of the cars were supposed to be destroyed. A GM employee crushed a junk car and hid this one for years. It fetched 3 million at an auction in 2005.
