“Ballmer also released the latest data on Windows 7: 8 million copies of the release candidate have been downloaded; half of IT managers plan to upgrade to Windows 7 ‘as soon as it’s available’; and 80 per cent intend to move within 30 months.”
Wow, Vista really must suck with those numbers.
Remember, Microsoft needed vista to suck in order to rebound. Without Carter there might not have been Reagan =-)
Actually, I really like Vista. From what I understand, if you upgraded to Vista, it was problematic. I got my Vista with a laptop that was made for it and I haven’t had a single problem with it. I think that Apple has been parroting the initial complaints of upgraders for years now and they’ve gotten away with it.
It has more to do with the fact that Win 7 really rocks!
I should know. I have been using it in beta/RC1 for months.
Not to mention a lot of those wanting to upgrade will be upgrading from XP, not Vista.
I’m posting this from a Windows 7 (beta) notebook. IMHO the new OS is quite nice. Secure and most definitely not bloatware in any sense.
In fact this install is running on a basic three year old notebook.
It might be a source of interesting reflection for FReepers to recall - it was Microsoft Windows which then-president Clinton attacked with the US Justice Dept.
Setting off the dot.com crash.
Just saying.
Wow - is 30 months now considered the public release beta period for new releases of Windows? That is pretty sad.
Our IT team supports XP and only XP. All our new computers come with the Vista stickers on the outside but XP on the inside. They are over worked enough without trying to support Vista’s myriad problems.
XP is getting long in the tooth though. It will be interesting to see how long until we get systems with Windows 7 images. Probably not until after SP1 is released.
