Is the Inkwell foundtation his publishing arm. Many years ago...in the ninties I subscribed to a black academic’s magazine. It was about 30 dollars and there were to be either four or six of them. Only one came, and when I tracked down the acadmeic’s office I was told by a lacky that there would be no more and no, there would not be a refund.

See #20.

Whether you have blond hair, blue eyes and almost translucent skin or if you are richly endowed with traditional African features .. .. .. well, you’re from Ethiopia. And Henry Louis “Skip” Gates’ “AfricanDNA” will prove it - for $189 to $1,277.

What’s funny is that Skip went to Dublin to trace his Irish roots.

A percentage (what percentage?) of all AfricianDNA profits is donated to the Inkwell Foundation. Inkwell Foundation – a Non-Profit Tax-Exempt Organization – is located at 17 Ware Street. That’s where Henry Louis “Skip” Gates lives in his rental house.

On its 2007 Organization Exempt Tax Return (Form 990) Henry Louis “Skip” Gates is listed as President of Inkwell and lists his address as 12 Quincy Street. No other tax returns have been filed by Inkwell. As recently as September 2008, the Boston Globe reported that Gates’ charity was not in compliance with the law for failing to register the proper paperwork, despite the charity existing since 2005.

In 2007, Inkwell received $205,400 in ‘donations’. It paid out $27,500 in “research grants” – mostly to Skip’s employees and colleagues. His personal assistant, Joanne Kendall received $10,000. Inkwell also purchased $14,625 worth of Artwork and Historical Objects” in 2007

Could Gates, like so many of Obama’s other friends, also be a tax cheat?

Henry Louis Gates who is also the Editor-In-Chief of The Root which aims to be “an unprecedented departure from traditional American journalism, raising the profile of black voices in mainstream media and engaging anyone interested in black culture around the world.” The Root is staffed by black employees only. Isn’t that Racist?

Another character is Gates’ lawyer, Charles Ogletree, Jr., who also happens to be a professor at Harvard. He’s a radical, believes in reparations, and is associated with the Black Panthers.

But more interestingly Charles Ogletree is a long time friend and mentor to both Michelle and Barack Obama.

It also turns out that Ogletree was a hard core radical with roots in the Maoist influenced Black Panthers movement. It also seems that Ogletree is still a militant leftist and is still called on by the Obamas for advice.

In 1970, Charles Ogletree enrolled at Stanford University near San Francisco, then a major center of black activism. He became a campus radical, organizing an Afrocentric dormitory and editing the campus Black Panthers newspaper. He also traveled to Africa and Cuba with student activist groups. In 1973 Ogletree was president of the radical Black Student Union.

Ogletree’s first interest in the law came when he attended the trial of Black Power activist and then Communist Party USA member Angela Davis. By 1986 Ogletree was director of Harvard’s Introduction to Trial Advocacy workshops, where students were taught that law can be “an instrument for social and political change…a tool to empower the dispossessed and disenfranchised… and a means to make the privileged more respectful of differences,”

Maybe Sarah Palin was right when she said Obama pals around with terrorists.

“I was raised hearing black people using the N word, and I don’t find it offensive at all. I do find it offensive when a non-black person uses it.”
Henry Louis Gates, Jr.,
