The plucky kid with the pod racer from "Star Wars: Episode I" is not a kid anymore. And Jake Lloyd wants you to know that having a major role in a George Lucas film really put a damper on things when he was growing up. OK, fine: The guy doesn't really deserve our pity, but think of it from his point of view. Ten years old, getting blamed for ruining the Star Wars series. (Well, that was mainly the fault of George Lucas, but the kid was there, wasn't he?)
And people just won't let it go. The Sci-Fi Australia blog caught up with the glum "Star Wars" alum Down Under, who sounds more Eeyore than "Episode One." While every word drips with sarcasm (he is 20, after all) the Anakin actor also can still speak geek. On college: "You'll never find more intelligent, charming people than the drunk students of the college world." 'Nuff said.

The kid was good in the movie. I didn’t think much of the film, though. The third one was ok, but none of them were really as good as the first trilogy.
> Jar Jar Binks wrecked the movie.
Yup. The entire franchise jumped the shark with Jar Jar Binks. Mace Windu was the best of the new characters, and even so nothing was ever as good as the Original Three episodes. The Prequels all sucked.
The scene that ruined it for me was the scene where the little kermit the frog character(can’t remember his name) gets into a light saber fight and bounces around like a ping pong ball.
yoda. That was his name.
The third movie was pretty good. The second one was OK. I love watching the third one for the special effects alone. Can’t wait until a Blu-Ray high definition version is available.
He was such an adorable child. Too bad what happened to his face.
You sir, should be banned from any future Star Wars discussion if you can’t recall the name of Yoda..... ;^)
Thanks - good laugh!
I completely disagree with this article. In the linked video interview he seems like a typical college student. He doesn’t come off bitter at all.
Actually Episode 4 was to make a very fun and clever movie, the rest were made to sell toys, t-shirts, and games.
Great book.
Like Obama, Binks did become a senator, and he did help to bring in some of the ‘reforms’ that started the Empire
“Mace Windu was the best of the new characters...”
The character might have been good, but IMO Jackson didn’t act him well for crap. Or maybe Lucas just can’t write or direct dialog. And I know Samuel L. Jackson can act, pretty much...
I did learn a lesson from the Star Wars series. Working on a novel of my own, I originally thought of writing a basic story, then the prequel. Seeing how Lucas messed up his prequel, I thought it best just to write the prequel first.
The first one was alright, but Liam Neeson saved that movie and I don't believe was in II/III. Jar Jar almost destroyed I.
