Obama sure screwed this up last night. I've been on Gates' side of this, but I don't think it has anything to do with the color of his skin. It should have to do with whether a man in his own home has a right not to be ordered around by the police; and whether the police might exercise some judgment and respect when they are dealing with someone who obviously isn't a criminal. Obama makes it racial though; and if it's going to be black against white in this country I'm going to have to stick with the side I was born on.

The Officer was responding to a call that a B & E was in progress. Gates’ house, as well as seven others in the neighborhood had been broken into in the last two weeks. When the police arrive at the scene and find a broken door and you inside, there is no reason for them to assume it’s your home. By the way. The house is owned by Harvard and is tax exempt. So they don’t pay for the police protection that Sgt. Crowley etal provide them.
