Whitney Houstons new CD, I Look to You, got the star treatment tonight. Music mogul Clive Davis played nine tracks from the album, due Sept. 1, for an A-list audience at Jazz at Lincoln Center. When he was done, Houston walked out and got a standing ovation and cheers.
She deserved it, too. The nine songs there will be 11 altogether are solid tracks, with several tipped as potential hit singles.

But it was Whitneys night. She looked stunning and a little stunned as the audience warmly embraced her and welcomed the new songs. Besides the Alicia Keys hit, the the standouts include an absolute knock-out cover of Leon Russells A Song for You, which could do for Whitney what Lets Stay Together did for Tina Turners 1984 comeback. Theres also a sleeper mid-tempo number called Nothin but Love, two excellent tracks from R. Kelly including the beautiful title song, and Diane Warrens David Foster-produced I Didnt Know My Own Strength.

Has-Been Ping.
If you don’t buy her CD, you’re racist.
Whatever. She’s talented, she’s back on the right track, and I wish her the best.
You still buy CD’s? *That’s* a has-been ping! ;oP
why, why, why...did you have to say that? What does that have to do with anything?
To show how 'out of whack' everything has gotten these days. In my life, I've never seen race used in so many circumstances, usually to condemn someone.
Good for her. It’s nice to see she recognizes her talent and will be nurturing it again. If she succeeds, it will be a great comeback story.
Scales and screams is back!
Will she light up a doobie on stage?
I have been waiting for this....God Bless her.
Whitney you go girl!! Welcome Back!!!!

What has been seen can't be unseen. That TV thing was too much for me. |
Whitney Houston is a great talent. I’m glad that she seems to have turned her life around, and I hope she makes a successful comeback.
So why add to the racial noise by adding more racial noise? That’s like saying “that fire is too big” then pouring gas on it. Because ultimately, it is an article about a woman who lost her way, who is finding her way back to singing again. I don’t see anything about race mentioned in it and yet you managed to stir up that type of ugliness. It is very hypocritical.
I'm the one stiring up things racial? You're making a racial statement every post, aren't you? (I don't care what race you are and I'm encouraged that you're conservative.)
I am proud to be Black, Beautiful and Conservative. I can’t see how that is a negative or stirs things up.
The point I'm making is that you've chosen to make your 'public face' about race. The first thing I notice about you is your name, brwnsuga and I know that it usually means a Black female.
My public face is about my family name which is Lamb = blam.
What would you think about me if every post of mine included: blam(White & Proud = High IQ, ) or some such.
I'm proud of my heritage too, in fact, my yDNA haplogroup (from my dad) is R1b (DYS390-23) which indicates I'm a Dane and my ancestors migrated to Ireland a long, long time ago (maybe as a Viking) and then came to America.
My mtDNA (my mom's) is 'V' which is from the Sami Tribe , a persecuted group in Northern Europe.
A Sami family around 1900
Well, if you chose to use your origins as your public face, I would not have a problem with it. Really. I chose to describe myself in my tag. And we, living in a free country are free to do this.
Agree...that's fine.
I suggest you just be a little more careful about who you throw the race card at as you will have already been the one to mention race first just with your screen name, regardless of the subject of the thread. That's all.
