This is from Newsweek, so take it for it's worth:
Here's where things get testy: (John) Coale says the McCain campaign, and later the Republican National Committee, led Palin to believe that they would pay her bills, but never did, causing Palin's debt to pile up. But two former senior McCain officials, who asked for anonymity to keep political peace, say there was no such promise (online finance records show no payments to Palin's lawyer).
I wonder how much there is to this. Filtering out Newsweek's spin (for example, they claim Palin is "fuming" with no source to back up the claim), one thing is obvious -- Coale is willing to go on the record, while the response comes from the standard-issue "anonymous senior McCain aides" that we see in every Palin hit piece.
Well at least McCain’s aids are as spineless as their esteemed leader.
mccain senior aide said it never happened
newsweek said anonymous source (probably liberal bloggers) says it happened
conclusion, it happened
One of two things.
This is true and Sarah has a right to be pissed
or
This is hit piece to drive a wedge in the GOP ranks.
Sarah just gave 5k to McCain’s pac so I wonder about this.
Same here, if she was ticked why give $5K to McCain?
McNut stabbed her in the back when she was his running mate as soon as he got a better deal from the current squatter soiling the Whitehouse.
Can anyone confirm a rumor for me? I’d heard on the grapevine that ethics complaints can be issued two years after her resignation....is this true????
When evaluating such a claim I would have to ask two things:
1. Would Newsweek have an interest in causing a split between the Republican party? (yes), and
2. Do I trust unnamed sources? (no).
It may have happened, but that doesn’t mean I trust this source.
Unnamed sources from Newsweak makes you lose control?
Wow! Haven’t heard that one... nothing would shock me now.
RNC will get a stab in the back from me.
Newsweek has completely went down the crapper. I can’t believe I ever subscribed to this rag back in 1992.
Ping!
FYI: John Coale is married to Greta Van Susteren.
Coale was the one who set up SarahPAC and her legal defense fund, so if he says that the McCain Campaign made some promises and then left her out to dry, I’d say that he knows exactly what he’s talking about. Makes sense in the context of McCain’s defeat, when he and his people tried to blame Palin and throw her under the bus, starting on November 5.

Why is this important?... Because it tells me what McCain tried to hide from us social-conservatives all along. Palin was nothing more than a 'move,' a 'trick' to bring us to vote for him.
But his daughter, his wife and his ex-campaign manager and all the others linked to his campaign (like Steve Schmidt, Mike Murphy, Mark McCinnon, Todd Harris... ) have now "come out of the closet" determined to move the party to the left and in doing so, have dumped on PALIN in different publications recently... They are ALL CONNECTED... and these are the ones who want to get rid off of Sarah in a hurry, after all for them, electing RINOs and Lefties is a very good business first and who knows what else
I used to ask: WHO IS THE GOP????... (no one has ever given me a good answer) Well...these weasels ARE PART OF THE GOP... (They think they know better than us what's good for the party). And I suspect - it's only logical - that these hacks are actually very influential in the GOP since they are the ones who are supposed to have ALL THE ANSWERS.... and so weak RINOs and LEFTIES listen to them to get re-elected or elected. Well, things have changed... and the GOP will have to listen to us!... We'll no longer vote blindly for their canditate. McCain was the first casualty.
So, the battle lines are drawn...

This is the "weasel" who tried to bamboozle social-conservatives into trying to elect Lefty-Traitor McCain and move the party to the LEFT... He thought that Palin would put MaCaca over the top... NAHHHH... We are not that dumb. And now, after the election, his CAMPAIGN MANAGER, is showing his true colors... And of course, MaCaca KNEW NOTHING of his views right?... Riiiight!
Warning: this links to the Huffinton Post!... We should not go there, but that is where the article came from)
