Because Television in general would frown on promoting such a relationship when they were popular back in the 60s and 70s. Yes, those old man/young woman relationships did (and still do) occur, but you would never, ever see the networks promoting them. Part of the reason is political. Remember that all the major networks have now leftist pre-screening departments. Plots for programming are regularly scrutinized by gays, minorities, feminists, etc. before they can ever hope to air. Decades ago, the televsion networks had something known as 'decency standards' where content was generally screened for possible violations of moral etiquette and obscenity -- not for perceived violations of minority pride as they are today by so-called "progressives" (fascists). Knowing this, ask yourself why this kind of a 'reality' show actually made it to air in the first place? Who does it attempt to hurt? It doesn't hurt minorites. Doesn't hurt women -- they're the ones calling the shots in these relationships --which pleases the feminist screeners, no doubt. Doesn't hurt gays -- they're not even part of this, plus the gay screeners are happy to see the network throw in their support for the further erosion of the "overrepresented" heterosexual relationship and of course, marriage. So who gets hurt in such a relationship? Why, the older, married, probably white, heterosexual male, that's who.
Oh, I thought it might be about “The Villages,” where the divorcees (and widows) are in their 70s and the “younger men” in their 60’s. Shocking!
LOL! I can, but I'm a great-grandpa!
Seriously, I think this is what happens to the fantasy life of hollywood writers when the gardener no longer speaks the same language...
Are they broadcasting this in Hi-Def? (Yo! Check out da wrinkles on that one!)
I guess those of us who did mature are not seeking to chase after someone younger than the kids in order to recover some 'lost youth', even vicariously.
Pity they never grew up.
Just one more reason to turn the danged tube off.
“A couger just might be the best thing to happen to him.”
Like the cougar “Danielle” on NJ Housewives? She was in her mid 40s, would have a young guy come over regularly for servicing with her two young children home.
She also was arrested for working with her drug dealing boyfriend to extort money from a “client” via his family. She actually made phone calls on behalf of her drug dealing boyfriend to the guy’s family in upstate New York.
Both she and her drug dealing boyfriend were arrested. She turned on him, providing state’s evidence sending him to jail. She got probation.
She was married and divorced twice, and looking to score another payday, I mean guy while awaiting a “settlement” rumored to be in seven figures from husband #2.
You mean someone like that for jr?
P.S. You’d be better off sending your son to a hooker.
The relationships you mention the folks were all married. Marriage is not the operative word in the whole “cougar” thing!
Sarah's married.
I’ve got a better idea. I’m making a show about guys in their seventies who are hitting on underage girls that they’re related to. I’ll call it Woody and Morgan. The only trick will be finding the lead actors.
I’m 32 and my boyfriend is 25. We’re happy together and I’m proud to be a cougar.
Why don’t they just call it “The MILF Show” and be honest about it?
Exactly!
“Three’s Company” thirty years ago, was sexier than anything on today. “Love American Style” forty years ago was so sexy people carried a bed around in their skits, and Paramount edited the DVD releases. It had Stuart Margolin playing the dirty old man. He’d be brought up on thought crimes or sexual harassment today.
Dunno where you get your history.
