Twentieth Century Fox, which is still producing the series even though new episodes will air on Comedy Central, is recasting the major voice roles for the show. That means no more Billy West (Fry, Professor, and Ziodberg), Katey Sagal (Leela), John DiMaggio (Bender), Maurice LaMarche (Kif Kroker, among others), or Tress MacNeil (Mom, and several others). Worst!
Fox released a statement saying "We love the Futurama voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands. While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on. We are confident that we will find terrific new performers to give voice to Matt and David's brilliantly subversive characters."

How much do voice actors make? I’ll bet Groening would love to replace the people who do the Simpsons voices with a bunch of interns, since he’s a “compassionate” liberal.

If you took the original voices of the Simpsons away...the series would die within a year. The thing about it....they make millions off the series and can afford to pay a pretty fair amount of money for the guys who do the voices. Why would you screw up a good thing?
As for Futurama? I’m betting it dissolves away within twelve months. No one will buy the last season in DVD form....and it’ll be one of those things....best forgotten.

Is this the real reason Futurama was canceled in the first place?

We are confident that we will find terrific new performers to give voice to Matt and David's brilliantly subversive characters. And I'm confident the ratings will suck.
Note to both parties: Way to go, guys.

This reminds me (in a way) of when the animation and appearance of Dexter’s Lab changed for the worse a few years back.

Greedy Hollywood socialist liberals. They are the biggest hypocrites on this earth - making millions thru free-market capitalism but preaching socialism for the rest.

Fox, I’m all for cutting costs where you can. But you’re going to have enough trouble replacing any one of those folks, let alone all of them. If you’re that keen on cutting costs, why not just shut down the show?

Good. This is what the free-market Capitalism is all about. If you let your salary demands get too high, you’ll price yourself right out of the market....
