Thanks, and I will let you know what sounds good, what I look at and ultimately what I get.

Time to upgrade your shotgun inventory. Check out the tactical autoloading Mossberg or Remington versions with short barrels.

The pumps are a lot cheaper, just slower and have limited magazine capacity.

Get a pump or automatic shotgun at least. You can get decent ones for 2-3 hundred.

I just bought a Stoeger Cougar 9mm. It is the same gun as the Beretta Cougar, made by Beretta’s subsidiary Stoeger on the same machinery as the Cougar was made in the 90s. Very comfortable.

I notice you’re from NY. There, like here in NJ, many types of firearms are specifically banned. I learned that when I went to buy an AK type rifle. Careful what you purchase, as it may make you a target for law enforcement.

Every household should have three firearms at MINIMUM. A pistol, a rifle, and a shotgun. This is NOT optional.

You need a rifle of some kind.

Suggestions: Get an autoloading or pump shotgun, Mossberg or Remington (latter is pricier but prettier, both work just fine). Then if you have cash left get an FNAL .308 or CMMG gas piston .223 for SHTF situations. And PRACTICE.

That Glock you have is pretty good.

Sounds like an investment in ammunition is more in order.

IMHO

A sturdy revolver is always good to keep around. Say a S&W .357 or .38. I have a hammerless .357. Just point and shoot.

Stock up on ammo. It’s in very short supply by me. Ammo may become the next currency.

Taurus makes some sweet, mighty, and reasonably-priced pistols.

I would agree with some of the posters.....you need to upgrade the shotgun..at least a Mossberg 500 and then get a rifle. That will give you a full range of options.

Bought the FN 5.7 pistol. I really like the pistol. Came with 3 clips and holds 20 rounds in each. That should stop an intruder or two.

Great pistol to fire.

Have fun purchasing a new weapon no matter what you purchase.

You’re OK on semi-auto centerfire pistols. Upgrade your shotgun to at least a pump. You also need a rimfire rifle and some kind of centerfire rifle.

Can’t make recomendations cuz I don’t know how you see using them. Self defense? Hunting, targets and plinking?

Ok, I was in your situation not so long ago. Thanks to the help of our fellow Freepers, I now own a Remington 870 12g, with both a 26” bird barrel and a 20” “make my day” barrel; a Marlin Lever Action .30-30; a Marlin Lever Action .357/.38sp; and a S & W .357/38sp Revolver.

The Ruger Mini-14 in .223 is relatively small, reliable, scope ready, easy to handle, has readily available extra capacity magazines, and isn't too expensive. Better get on a backorder list for the ammo though. Try Able's Ammo or Cabelas.

I love the Sig quality, but it just didn’t feel right in my hand. You need to handle a Springfield XDm. Wonderful grip, and it won the NRA pistol of the year award. Recoil is light. If you get a .40, there is a 9mm conversion kit so you can should either caliber.

Everyone needs a .22 rifle and a shotgun. You already have the shotgun and even tho it is a single barrel that is better than nothing.

A good .22 rifle is a lifetime investment. Probably the best one for the money is one of the BRNO bolt actions. Also the Ruger 77/22. The 10.22 may not be the best .22 but it has more accessories including mags than any other so it would be a good choice.

Everyone should also have a .22 handgun capable of taking game and self defense too if necessary. The Beretta model 70 or the Ruger auto, or the Ruger single six, but the really great ones are the S&W model 17 and the Colt Woodsman. Most of the old High Standard target models are also great. These last few would also be good investments.

You just might want another shotgun too. Any of the major brand autoloaders or pumps would be fine.

Consider getting a .22LR conversion kit for your Glock. Great for practice shooting.

Remington 11-87 $700, or a Mossberg 935 $590. Great, dependable CIWs. No plug with one in the pipe is 6 rounds.
Long gun, Colt AR-15, any HBAR (heavy barrel) model. You talk about “reach out and touch someone”, 800 yard Bullseyes all day long. $1200. Buy only Colt!! The off-brand ARs (Les Baer, Bushmaster, et al, can use only .223 rounds. The Colt can use .223 or NATO 5.56. The chambering is different for many rifles. NATO 5.56, M193, is the cheapest round at $.44. For weapons check out impactguns.com; ammo the-armory.com. If you buy from them, tell them to contact me via FReepmail.
