This a strange article. The guy has a thing for Wal-Mart. What caught my eye was his mention of a machete. I have several, my favotites are my Ka-Bar and Cold Steel that have blades of 18 inches. I've used those things on brush cutting, tree cutting, splitting small logs, snake patrol, cutting pieces of fence wire, bull rope and once whacked a muscrat the wife's dog had cornered. I have a couple of others also that I have no idea of the make or model, best thing about them is doesn't require a finely honed blade to be effective. A few passes on the grinder or a few swipes from a file and they're good as new. Haven't had to use one on a zombie yet probably because their intimadated by my tresspassers will be shot sign.
Keep in mind the article is tongue in cheek. The guy has obviously had nightmares about zombies. I've never had to use my weapons on a zombie, probably, once again because of the sign. However, if some approached that was public school educated and thought it was some kind of invite to a party, I would probably grab the DPMS AR-15 or AK-47 or mini 14 or Mossberg 500.

The guy has obviously had nightmares about zombies.
About a month or so ago, I have a vivid nightmare about zombies.
The initial outbreak was happening. People running and screaming, zombies attacking at a distance still, having a bit of time to get ready.
I happened upon a gas station that for some reason had an entire wall inside the auto maintenance shop loaded with all kinds of swords. The owner approached me as I was staring at a katana that I wanted to use for defense against the apporaching undead swarms. He refused, but offered me a couple of good firearms. I keps trying to explain that guns aren't good after they're empty.
Then I woke up.

Machete? Gun?
Pshaw. Any serious zombie killer is either going to have a lawnmower strapped to his chest:

...or a hand replaced with a chainsaw.

Seriously. Only amateurs use machetes and guns.

53,595 dead zombies = Zombie Genocidest
(meaning somebody has no life, which would be me)

You also want to keep the zombie specialty chains in stock. Do you realize how hard it is to change them with an oncoming horde of the undead and a stripped adjustment screw?

For the answer to this thorny conundrum, we must consult the authorites; i.e. the makers of the ‘Living Dead’ movies. Fortunately, they have spoken with a single voice - ‘To destroy the ghoul, destroy the brain.’
Nothing else will do, and thus the solution of choice, IMO, is the Remington 870 12 ga.

Well, in keeping with this ridiculous article, neither knives or guns would be my choice in case of a Zombie attack. Flame thrower for me.

You need to add the Fury 11561 machete to your collection. Your can buy them at Combat Tactical on sale for $14.23. Maybe buy two for the resident evil extinction style method. Click on image for link.

The best defense against zombies is a remote control. If I even sense they might be coming up in the tv show or movie, the channel gets changed before they can ruin the movie and possibly bore me to death.

Over the short haul guns are OK but in a full blown zombie apocalypse guns are a problem. They’re loud, they need a lot of maintenance, and they will eventually run out of ammo, not to mention head shots are difficult. Swords don’t attract as much attention, are easier to maintain, never need reloading, and it’s a bit easier to smack heads than shoot them.

This might be useful for anti-zombie applications. (Except in California. Our zombie and gangbanger protection laws make these illegal in this State.)
