Time for the year's 3rd major championship(already)and the only one of the 4 that is not played on this side of the Atlantic.
This year's event takes us to the west coastline of Scotland, to Royal Turnberry Golf Club where I'm sure the weather will have a lot to do with who wins and who doesn't win.
So what storyline is going to be written this time.....
Can Padraig win for the 3rd year in a row? Is Tiger going to tie his buddy Roger and win his 15th Major? Can Greg Norman turn the fountain of youth on again, but keep it on Sunday too and shock the world? Or do even bigger underdogs, like John Daly or David Duval revisit past glory? Or do stars like Paul Casey, Sergio, Ernie, Anthony Kim or others get the big prize come Sunday night?
Who do you think will hold the Claret Jug come Sunday??
Early weather forecast for the weekend, intermittent rain showers with highs in the low 60's.
Tiger tees off at 4:09AM EDT(9:09AM BST)on Thursday.

Cink sinks it in for the win!
Cink Wins! THanks for the Thread GOP!!
I don't watch golf. All I've ever heard/read about Woods is how wonderful he is.
When I do occasionally watch for a bit it cracks me up hearing people yell, "Get in the hole!" when someone hits the ball. Or, screaming and cheering for a guy that hits a drive down the fairway. It really cracks me up.
Haha, I just heard the announcer say that. A moment later, they showed Tiger Woods bashing the ground with his golf club after missing a shot.
It doesn't crack me up at all. It makes the game of golf almost unwatchable these days. All the mouthy jerks in the gallery - it's beyond unpleasant.
Congrats REPANDPROUDOFIT! Congrats Cink!
And also congrats Watson for a great game!
And thank you, Stewart Cink, for not being a testosterone-crazed fist-pumper on the winning shot.
He just thanked his wife for introducing him to his faith. This guy could single-handedly take golf back to where it used to be - back to when golf was a gentlemanly sport - pre Tiger Woods.
Very classy acceptance speech by Stewart. I was rooting for Tom but right now I am happy to see Cink win a major.
Tom was so close to doing it. So, so close. I’ll listen to all the post match stuff tonight when I get home from work, but I’m sure Stew was very gracious in winning and Tom sad but gracious in defeat.
If it wasn’t for Tom’s flatstick things would have been so much different. Cause his game tee to green held up well today, until the playoff.
I think Stewart might have more than 500,000 followers on Twitter after this. Hell, I’m 1 of them!!!!!
Next thread, the WGC event in 2 and 1/2 weeks, when they play in my backyard!!
Congratulations to Stewart and his family, including his FReeper Auntie.
We love ya!
I told Stewart's dad early on today that I hoped Stewart won and the tv guys would be saying "Uh Oh! We don't have any footage of Cink playing the course!" LOL! Everyone is always complaining that he doesn't get tv coverage. We call him "The man in the closet"!
Seriously, thanks to all my Freeper friends for the good wishes. We are still in shock!
Anne Cink
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
And the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Good work!
I think we all wanted Tom to win. Had that 8 foot putt gone in, we would of put this victory among the watershed moments in sport for the last 50 years.
I’m talking Super Bowl 3, or the 1980 Hockey team’s win over the USSR. Those moments that everyone will always remember where they were when.....
But no, it wasn’t to be. It’s really hard to root against Stewart too cause he’s got great game and is a true gentleman on and off the course.
He’s been tweeted I’m sure a lot over the last 3 hours..... And to know his Aunt is a FReeper is even better...
Also please see post 252 above. :)
I just read your post!! Now I know!!!
Please give Stewart my congratulations on the great victory. And I will also add that the apple definetly doesn’t fall far from the tree!!!!
Thanks!!!
“I grew up watching Tom Watson play on TV and hoping one day maybe I could follow in his footsteps at the Open Championship. He’s turned back the clock. ... I just feel so happy to be a part of it, let alone win.” — Stewart Cink
“The same Tom Watson that won this tournament in ... ‘77, the same guy showed up here this week. And he just about did it. He beat everybody but one guy. And it was really special.” — Stewart Cink
Hey, sis!
Wish we could’ve been there with you guys to watch Stewart’s big day. Sure was fun. Tell him all his family in Mobile is “high on Stewart” tonight.
As happy as we are, my thoughts go also to Tom and his family. Lord knows, we’ve been through some bad days w/ Stewart, but never with that kind of build up and world following. What a heartbreaker.
Stewart's and your kind words about Tom Watson shine through in the spirit of this family.
Hey clevelandgop! We just have to stop meeting like this! LOL! I beginning to think I know you.
