The idea in your #719 has merit, even though the Dems have the votes to do anything they desire.

The most attractive aspect, IMHO, is that such an action would demonstrate to the Dems that the Republicans can, as a team, play hardball. Something not now imagined.

It is not at all an unreasonable position: “Simply arrange for the Governor of Hawaii to send us an authentic and verifiable $12 birth certificate.”

Most of us agree until the Republicans show they can play team hardball they have little chance of gaining the confidence of marginal Dems - or many of us for that matter.

Here are a few things i thought, maybe they will translate well and make sense to others.

Although the dems do have the power to do whatever they want, I dont think that they will all the time.
They KNOW that so much of what they are proposing is BS and bad for us that they REALLY NEED republican’s to vote with them so they have some fall guys in the end when it all goes to crap.

For instance, I think that the most likely legislation that they would sign on alone would be health care because that is what is so important to zero.
But even at that, so many won’t because they are afraid of the ramifications when it costs too much, provides little care and so many are left uninsured.
They want and NEED to be able to say, we had a better idea but republicans wouldn’t sign on to it, so we made the mistake of giving in to republicans and this is what happened. (complete bs, but they will swear it and the loyal party members and msm will treat it as truth)

If no republicans sign it as it is, then they can not say it no way no how and they will be afraid that their party is responsible alone for the demise of the legislation.

secondly - republicans needs to understand like John McCain that we do not want them to move to the left more, but further to the right. I think too many republicans fear that they are truly in the minority on conservative views, when in fact, they lose support because of liberal or more centered views.
We need to make them aware of this. They read the newspapers and watch the msm as well and probably believe at least to some degree that republicans are moving to the left. I think nothing could be further from the truth.

We need to let them know that they will get our support when they start acting like a responsible conservative party, smaller government and start fighting for what we want instead of what they think the rest of the country is moving toward.
