sure sounds different than MJ’s childhood song but I am an untrained ear.
I AM trained in the area...Great deal of discussion back in the early ‘70s by college profs and fellow students....His voice is not a true falsetto, at the least it is questionable...If it were true there would be a break switching into the lower tones...doesn’t happen.
None of us had ever truly worked/listened to a live castrati, but only late developing young men....Never had the inconsistancies in his voice typical of develping child....
Speaking voice is not in the “male range”...light and airy speaking voice is typical of a pre-teen/early teen female...or vocal chords that have been damaged. In those cases even with breath support the volumn cannot be increased....not evident in his supported singing voice.
Basically what the lack of develpment does is stunt the growth of the vocal chords. The size of the vocal chords determines the pitch of the singer...The bass singer has very large vocal chords, the child’s is small....The size of vocal chord like the size of your feet/hands are inherited from your parents....
A young boy who’s chords are growing sound like his mother for a period of time. Just for a while they are the same size as mom’s then they grow to the size consistant to male familial members.
Once had a second grader with a low voice....Met his older brother and parents....inherited trait....really weird hearing this low voice singing along with the other children’s voices. Grew up to be a true bass.
