Need Wrinkle Advice from FReeper Sisters
me | July, 11, 2009 | me

Posted on 07/11/2009 5:58:01 PM PDT by Marie

OK FReeperettes, I need some help.

It’s finally happened, just as I knew it would… my face is starting to show my age. Quickly.

I knew it would happen just like this. Every woman ages the same in my mother’s family and apparently, I’m no exception. They get seriously carded, their husbands get flack for being with a teenager, nobody believes their teenagers belong to the - until about 40.

Then BOOM! Their faces crater. They go from easily passing for 21 to looking 45 within a few months and it all happens around 40. Doesn’t matter if they smoke or moisturize or how much sun they get. The timing is never off.

I’m almost 40 and for the last month I’ve noticed the dark circles under my eyes getting darker, my skin starting to slack, and my pores starting to enlarge. I don’t have many fine lines; however, if genetics hold true, the wrinkle brigade will be in full force by next summer.

But I will NOT go gracefully into that good night! It’s too early for a facelift (plus I’m a big chicken), so I’m looking for a good face cream. I already moisturize, so I’ve got that going for me, but I need something to fight the dark circles under my eyes and something that firms and tones the skin and reduces pores.

There are literally thousands of products out there. I’d like to find out what’s worked for you. Point me in the right direction my conservative sisters! Tell me where to put my money!

(One thing. I can’t use Retin A. I have some permanent burn scars from using that crap for only two weeks a decade ago.)

Good luck Marie. In addition to your other methods...Don't forget the healthful benefits of 15 minutes of very vigorous exercises that produce sweat and conditioning. Healthy capillaries near the skin surface give good color and vitality.

As for the Sun some of the latest research indicates that the benefits of cancer prevention outweigh the danger of melanoma. Of course too much sun is definitely bad.

I believe dear old Venus there is the only woman in the history of the universe who will age gracefully.

I do with the cream. I use it very very lightly. Progesterone is fat soluble so it builds up in the tissues. At present I only use it every other day.

stop squinting and don’t smile all way to your eyes.

Don’t move your forehead or raise your eyebrows

Thank you for the warning! Would you mind sharing what that was so we can be wary of it??

It was Retin-A, she had a very serious allergic reaction, on top of that you can't go into the sunlight much while using it, as one poster has said you will get some serious skin issues. It worked well for my wife until she almost died from it!

“Date someone with failing eyesight.”

Exactly!!!

Since I am too vain to wear glasses (except for reading and DMV eye tests)….

To me…EVERYONE looks 10 years younger!!! So when I say “damn you look good and I see no wrinkles”…I truly mean it….

It never made sense to me to lie and to say that you were younger. The face doesn’t lie. You’re just down-playing your own wisdom. Being older is something to be proud of!

Me either. Chinese, Japanese and Koreans bump up their age a year or so--part of it is because they count their age from the approximate time of conception rather than their birth.

Fraxel. My friend provides this and she has performed it on several friends

Seemed to help

I have several creams at home and when I get home I will make a list of them.

I don’t use them. No one in my family wrinkles and I don’t need this stuff at 48.

I just veins done, hereditary, looks great!

Like I said, when I get home I will give you the 411

When you look in a mirror, ALWAYS hold the mirror UP...Look UP...

NEVER,NEVER, NEVER put the mirror on a table and look down.
It’s the kiss of death.

Try this serum and the moisture cream by the same company.
In just two weeks I can see the wrinkles on my forehead, around my mouth and under my eyes fading away.

I love all the Olay products.
The new stuff is expensive, but I like it enough to use the coupons and keep buying it.

Here are some things you might want to try. Make sure to take dosages more than once a day and depending on your body weight. You will notice a difference. L’Oréal Skin Genesis is a very good product. I hate to admit it but I use it and I’m a guy. :-)

ALA
ALCAR
Vitamin D
Hyaluronic Acid
