Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan recently replied to a fan letter on the band's website and seemed to throw a barb at the late Michael Jackson in the process.
In a post on Thursday, Corgan responded to a fan article entitled "Pumpkins by Any Other Name" that addressed the recent changes in personnel the band underwent, as well as the music created from the changes.
"In the center of any of it has been for me, personally speaking, my music," Corgan wrote. "Yes, MY music. The music that came out of this being and body. I've called the umbrella the songs came out of under different names but to me I guess there really wasn't a whole lot of difference. As they song, a song is a song."

Jackie Johnson?
Billy Corgan, aside from being a pretty good musician, is an absolute stud. Well done.

I've enjoyed SP music over the years, Thirty-Three from
Melon Collie is up there on my list of all time favorties. But, Corgan has always been one strange puppy, and is one to talk.
He does look happier than usual with Ms. Weathergirl.
To: Perdogg
Corgan is one weird chipmunk, but he has my utmost respect, musically and vocally, anyway.

The man obviously has a functioning brain. His remarks listed in the article seem more like reasonable, perhaps even sympathetic observations rather than disrespect.

Agreed. He’s an incredible songwriter and musician, but does tend to play the “disassociated artist” too much.
In the 90’s, there was a lot of poser bands trying to copy Nirvana and Alice in Chains, and Smashing Pumpkins were not one of them. They were one of the few originals who really stood out. The rest of the original bad were all great as well. The drummer was just incredible live, but screwed up his life chasing the dragon.
To: Perdogg
I have always preferred his music over his political commentary.

Not a dig really, it was almost sympathetic, as another poster said.

Saw them in Cola, SC before they blew way up. They put on one helluva show. The pits & surfing were legendary that eve.

Billy is one of those baby faced people that looked cute when he was in his early 20’s and just looks odd later on.
That being said, I LOVE LOVE Smashing Pumpkins.

I don’t see how this has anything whatsoever to do with MJ.
Never got the appeal of the Pumpkins. To me, every song sounds exactly like the others.
