Start wearing “Spanks”. It will slim your butt and and belly while smoothing your high hips so you can wear your cuts about 1”-2” lower.
When meeting other dignitaries with your husband, wear flats. You stand over him by 1” and about 2”-3” with your hairdo.
Also wearing flats won't make you look you intend to intimidate with your size, especially when you midgets from Italy. Besides they are nice people, you are in their country and home, show some(a little) humility or decorum. Heck your husband know enough to bow and curtsy to foreign dignitaries.
Accouterments. Just enough is more than enough. That bouquet on your shoulder is a tad to big. Better to go with a simple broach no larger than 2” or some #4 size pearls.
Watch or bracelet was fine and about the right size.
Shoes were a big no, no. Where a simple pattern or no pattern but some piping on the shoe.
Never where stripes on shoes. It's not dressy and makes you look you are ready for a jar of caviar with no crumpets and a cheap bottle of Bollinger. Of course, the way you are, you would probably skip having some crudités as an appetizer. Anyway, your shoes look like you skinned a zebra.
Stop trying to be fashionable and dress with fashion that is timeless. Right now you are wearing clothes that will be a passing fad(even though no one wears a tartan anymore) and you will end be a cliche’ when you leave the White House as a “Fad that has finally passed” Much like the disco era.
