United Airlines Song Background (short version)
In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway. United: Song 3 is coming. I promise.
United Airlines Song Background (Detailed Version)
OK, if you have a $3500 guitar shouldn’t you have it packed real real nice so it can’t be damaged except under rare circumstances? Or perhaps ship it separately? You have to expect airline luggage will be dropped and manhandled.
Of course, especially if that guitar was your livelihood.
United employees not only mistreats your baggage they do it when they know the passengers are watching! Then they could care less when you complain. We didn't even receive any type of apology. We were treated like the bag being damaged was somehow our fault. We haven't flown United since. Their is a very strange attitude. It is almost like the employees want their company to go under. Then they can all claim to be victims of the bad economy or something.
This video is brilliant.
Customer service... you’ve been served.
Personal responsibility at its best.
Yes, you will. Airlines have special immunity for baggage loss. It’s in the fine print on your ticket jacket. The limits are way less than enough to replace a good Taylor guitar.
they basis = the basis PIMF
I remember at Tampa International flying to LAX the check in counter flagged my checked in luggage for some reason, I brought it over to the guys but there were guys 2 young black guys goofing around and I dropped it off and all they asked me was what kind of valuables were in it in so many words. I had the feeling my camera and radar detector and other electronics would have been rifled through. Glad to say nothing was missing.
