Elite Guards in black uniforms inhabit the Wieden barracks, which also was the home of a German regiment in pre-war days and has been restored and refurbished. There would seem to be between 1,000 and 2,000 of them.

I am getting the idea that Elite Guards = SS.

The Time will come, perhaps quite unexpectedly, when Chancellor Hitler is prepared to strike. But nobody knows what is in Herr Hitler’s mind now.
