It is a double standard and I think that is a good thing in this case. If I was involved in something like that back in the day in high school, I certainly would not have been harmed by it. (before HS is a different story) Men are more likely to be predators. It's part of biology. Also, without going into detail, different equipment.

As far as she goes, she's not my type, but I may have a different opinion if I was 16.

You can make that argument as a few in this thread have. But the laws on the books draw no distinctions between genders; ALL offenders should be treated equally under the law until which time the laws are changed.
