Why is it that female sexual predators are not taken seriously by our justice system? I swear almost all of them get probation. It is freaking ridiculous.

Sexual predators are sexual predators, regardless of if they have breasts or a dangle. They all need to do serious time.

Exactly the reason I posted this. The double standard blows.

No its different. We don’t get pregnant. Boys just get messed up in different ways but it would happen anyway 2 seconds after marriage when the new brides head starts spinning and green goop goes everywhere.

parsy, the very jaded

Please Mr. Secret Agent Man, tell the truth...when you were 17 would you have considered an attractive, fit 24 year old girl a predator?

Or would you have just "dreamed" about her?

Because teenage boys aren't psychologically traumatized by an encounter like this as is often the case when the genders are reversed.Yes,there are reasons why it still should be strongly discouraged but....

I would be congratulating my 15 year old son if he hit that! She ain't Deb LaFave, but still... I sure wouldn't be trying to get her into trouble. The double standard is a matter of culture and society. If it were a male trainer and my teen daughter, I would pull the lever myself. :)

But then again, my mother was 15 when she married my father, and he was in his early 20s. Nowadays, he would be a sex offender and shunned if he ever got out of jail.

I think we have all just gotten too damn protective. This age thing is totally subjective and depends on the maturity of the individual, not some arbitrary number (18) which was invented (imposed?) by the government. I honestly don't see how we are supposed to keep our teens from doing anything sexual. Face it. Sex is FUN, interesting, and very tempting, no matter your age. We are driven to do it. It is simple biology. Folks need to wake up and realize that their kids are sexual beings and are gonna at least experiment with sex whether or not they want them to.

I know that when I was 15, I would have given my left arm to have sex with a hot 24 year old teacher. I fantasized about some of my teachers so much that I found their classes difficult. Sophomore year geometry... Wow, was she hot. Every jock in my class was constantly flirting with her, trying to get her to date them, etc, but she was married to an undertaker of all things.

I'd be inclined to agree generally. Though women, by obvious differences in the sexes, are almost universally viewed in western society as less predatory than men. One can see numerous examples on this thread, particularly if the female offender is good looking, as is the case here.

Though clearly she violated trust all around and should certainly lose her job and be punished in some way.

There is one important difference between men and women in these cases of statutory rape, at least involving these teachers.
Yes, in both cases we are dealing with predators.
But these women do not use coercive or forceful methods to engage in these sexual relationships with their young students. Women prefer to use seduction as their method to engage their victim.
Men are generally more aggressive, or just use physical. force.

In terms of sentencing, that is very relevant.
Why do we lock up men and not the women?
Because the male perpetrators are seen as more dangerous to the community.

THAT IS WHY !
