Michael Jackson Memorial Set For July 7 At Staples Center (who is paying for this?)
NBC Bay Area ^ | Updated 1:46 PM PDT, Thu, Jul 2, 2009

The public memorial for Michael Jackson will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in Los Angeles, Access Hollywood has learned.

The "private and public memorial" will be held at the Staples Center in downtown LA at 10 AM, AEG Live president Randy Phillips told NBC News.

Phillips said all of the details would be finalized when he meets with the Jackson family Thursday afternoon.

"Everything is in preliminary stages except the place and time," Phillips told NBC.

AEG Live is the organization which was behind Jackson's planned 50-show stint in London.

Should capacity be reached for the nearly 20,000-seat stadium, Phillips said the overflow crowd will be able to watch the memorial on large screens at nearby Nokia Plaza.

Despite reports that the public ceremony will be a funeral, a source close to the situation previously told Access Hollywood executive producer Rob Silverstein it will actually be a memorial to the King of Pop, who died last week at the age of 50.

And now it turns out the little old lady was tryin' to get out of work by makin' himself sick and went too far.

All he had to do was jump around and scream for an hour, how hard is that?

tmz.com has a video up of a rehearsal from 2 days before his death. He clearly had a vocal track going (not unusual) and kind of wandered around the stage...doing a little thrusting here and there. He looked better than I thought he would....although probably high on various painkillers...

"I hope the LAPD is ready for all the burnin’ and lootin’ that the mourners will engage in. "

Nothing says, "Michael, we miss you", like burning a few police cars and looting a 50" Sony Bravia.

There was a report this morning that the Jackson family will charge $25 a head for members of the public who want to attend. With merchandise sales at the arena, they should turn a tidy profit on Michael’s passing.

I have a question regarding his burial.

This being California with it's myriad of environmental regulations, my question is this:
Will the Jackson family have to do an environmental impact study for his burial due to the enormous amount of plastic contained in his earthly remains?

(who is paying for this?)

Fans, buying tickets, I expect. Old Joe should be able to pocket plenty from it.

Also from article....

"T-shirts that were going to be sold on Michael's upcoming "This Is It" tour will not go to waste. They will be sold outside Staples to people entering the service."

Ya can't let those tour t-shirts go to waste....
