I know IG Metall but the workers do not try to destroy the company and teh workmanship is very good. They realize that if the auto companies fail it’s all over.
Same thing. Passat = A6, Beetle = TT, etc. Even my old 1985 4000s had VW and Audi logos on the engine.

The big difference between German and US unions is actually that German unions have a huge number of legal rights granted by the state that make them rather powerful, but (put simple, because I don’t want to write a wall-of-text) these rights can be taken away from them in case of abuse, which is decided by a court (same goes for certain rights of factory owners). The system supports negotiation and compromise between large organized worker and owner groups before allowing large scale displays of power and labor fights. The system certainly has its very own problems, but all in all it works rather well.
