Agree. Better with an open toe heel. Shoes can make or break the dress.

“Frock” is the right word. ‘60s fashions were awful.
This one’s half acceptable because it’s plain rather than some of the silly things they used to plaster on those shapeless things.

Seriously, it was probably all she could find to buy in the stores. That dress was probably worn with a clunky heel, but they're difficult to locate. All the shoes for fall look like these, which I will no doubt break my ankle wearing:

Seriously, the shoes don't go with the dress What? Grey or silver and grey, maybe, with perhaps 1/2” or 3/4” shorter heels? Perhaps the heels would be better proportioned if they were 3/32 larger at the tip.

The shoes are wrong, and hair is wrong -- it should be lifted up or be worn short in order to emphasize the most important design elment of the dress, which is its cut at the neck and shoulders. And then she should have added long dangling earrings to emphasize it even more.
More appropriate shoes would have been refined-line high-heeled sandals of a similar hue to the dress.
