If conservative candidates for political office really can't find serious, successful, and foolproof ways of actually "fixing everything leftist" so that they really are conservative, pro-free market, pro-capitalistic, and long-term solutions to issues instead, then they shouldn't run for political office. Profound brainstorming for actual, pro-conservative, pro-free market, pro-capitalistic, long-term solutions on all issues really needs to be front and center, prior to the '10 and '12 elections. Too many non-leftists are still "cowering in corners" in fear of the dominant left, instead of seriously finding ways of ending "everything leftist" for good! Let's really get the political momentum successfully back on the "non-leftist" side, and then, let's keep it going for as close to forever as humanly possible!
I couldn’t agree more. Be proud and put forth good ideas or resurrect old ones which are still just as good. The ideas of our founders are timeless. We have an ugly mess in this country. Look at this horrible 1500 page bill which none of the morons have read.
1 individual liberty as envisioned in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights
2 States Rights; This republic was founded as a federation of States, with a limited Federal (not National) government. The Feds should only act pursuant to the enumerated powers. The so called “Commerce Claus” cases have been used to erode the power of the States and to concentrate power in the Feds
3 Judicial Restraint: judges are to apply the laws the legislatures have written and the executives have signed. Judges are not a ruling oligarchy using their perception of the Constitution to impose how society should behave
4
Abortion; I am morally opposed, but I believe questions of medical procedures are for the States, not the Feds. Each state should pass and enforce their own (hopefully prohibiting) legislation
5 taxes; all governments should tax only to fund their legitimate services such as common defense, police, sanitation etc
6 education; also a matter for the individuals and the local government. (As a product, primarily, of parochial schools, I am not conversant with all the issues. The Feds should have no involvement.
7 Immigration; vigorously enforce the existing laws. If you want to change the process for coming into our country, let's have an intelligent debate Mr. Bush was wrong to fail to enforce the law. We used to attract the best and the brightest from other countries. We benefit from their contributions
8 Energy. The US should be energy independent. Stop noodling around, we have the talent to build nuclear and hydrocarbon plants to supply bountiful, reasonably priced energy. (Nuclear subs are patrolling off the coasts now, with no problems) we should build appropriately sized nuke plants in every congressional district (since they are roughly based upon population)
9 Foreign Trade... I am not as educated about this as I should be. Consideration should be given to the effect of allowing trading partners access to our markets when the playing field is not level
10 Economy; we are merely husbands of the society we inherited. We should leave it better than we found it. Massive borrowing, particularly for non essential expenses is lunacy
I'm sure there are more that will come to mind, but these are some preliminary thoughts.
