I read Nemesis twice. There is so much info in that book that I am going to read it again.I find the the side personalities interesting.Hard to believe how Ted negotiated for the marriage to Jackie-whole different world.
Never has any inside poop on JEH.... and was smart enough not to ask..... :)
Was butter involved?
I would read your book if you wrote it.
Once interviewed the golf pro that Papa Joe hired to teach all the Kennedy boys to play golf.
He said Joe Jr. was “incredible, a man's man. He was the one who should have been president, etc.”
Jack, a bit of a playboy even in his youth, but smart and “Not a bad lad” (the pro was very Irish himself)
Bobby; the runt of the litter. Toughest of all of them. Won ever fight by never giving up.
I asked about Teddy, and he would not answer me. (This was pre-Chapaquidik probably about 1966.) When pressed for an answer, after a few drinks, he simply said, “Ah, Young Teddy. Now there is a tragety. All I say is... Teddy cheats at golf.
To another golfer, that's all he had to say.
PS, Teddy's story about swimming across the harbor after the car that drowned Mary Jo went into the water. Complete BS.
Life Magazine hired the six members of the Harvard swim team to see of they could do it against the same tide that was running that night. None made it more than half way across.
Seriously, I'm a TV guy. When writing for $, I write short sentences. I right to be listened to, (Just like Peggy Noonan) not to be read.
If you read Peggy's books silently, they are a struggle to get through. But read them out loud, and they are auditory nectar for the gods.... and the ears.
I can not write well for publication, just for broadcast. It's a different skill set.
oops, bad spill chucker : “write”
Thanks.
Giovanni Agnelli was the Italian.
He and Jackie were introduced by Pamela Harriman, who at seperate times was sexually involved with Joe Sr, Joe Jr, and Jack.... and Edward R. Morrow.... and Agnelli (and about 20% of the rest of the upper class men in wartime London!)
# 49 may interest you too.
Be well.
Thanks, MindBender—I’m writing that down.
Get writin', Big Bender! Call me when you're done. Git!
Thanks for the thread, lewisglad.
LOL about not asking about JEH. You were enjoying being vertical. ;-)
MB, maybe that’s the inside joke to Teddy in naming his dog Swimmer—that Teddy hoodwinked everyone about swimming “across the harbor.”.
you are incredibly awesome mindbender...you were in the media in the 60’s
you should write a book...i’ll buy it
Yeah, chevydude. All I have now is to just keep meticulously re-reading this thread. ;-)
Be well. I have to go back and watch the some of the 3785 hours of prime time television being devoted to the passings of Farah and Michael.
MB26 writes much better than Gov Sanford...
I recently bought a Godfather DVD and saw the movie uncut and unedited for the first time. Nice movie.
