I read Nemesis twice. There is so much info in that book that I am going to read it again.I find the the side personalities interesting.Hard to believe how Ted negotiated for the marriage to Jackie-whole different world.
Once interviewed the golf pro that Papa Joe hired to teach all the Kennedy boys to play golf.
He said Joe Jr. was “incredible, a man's man. He was the one who should have been president, etc.”
Jack, a bit of a playboy even in his youth, but smart and “Not a bad lad” (the pro was very Irish himself)
Bobby; the runt of the litter. Toughest of all of them. Won ever fight by never giving up.
I asked about Teddy, and he would not answer me. (This was pre-Chapaquidik probably about 1966.) When pressed for an answer, after a few drinks, he simply said, “Ah, Young Teddy. Now there is a tragety. All I say is... Teddy cheats at golf.
To another golfer, that's all he had to say.
PS, Teddy's story about swimming across the harbor after the car that drowned Mary Jo went into the water. Complete BS.
Life Magazine hired the six members of the Harvard swim team to see of they could do it against the same tide that was running that night. None made it more than half way across.
