To get him to exactly 5-5-5 is actually somewhat of an accomplishment.

“a dangerous 555 pounds...”

Why? When he hits a certain weight will he become violent?

But she has enough money to feed him sufficient amounts of food to maintain that incredible weight? Besides, the issue is not just what she can do now. The issue is where was she when he was putting all this weight on in the first place?

That’s retarded. If Angelina Jolie were raised in that house by that mother I guarantee you she would still be skinny. Carrie Prejean, same thing.

The treatment is too expensive? How much is her Piggly Wiggly tab? (Or does she pay for food?)

“But Gray, released from jail Monday on $50,000 bond, says she does not have enough money to get her son the treatment he needs....”

John Semmens, did you write this??

I got an idea - how about not feeding him for a month or so - would fix a couple of problems - the money thing and the weight thing!

But what was the point of throwing her in jail other than some prosecutor/LEO types wanna make their bones? They could just take the kid away from her and that would be painful enough.

"lot of times I had to work fulltime second shift or fulltime, third shift. And I wasn't home a lot."

Poor kid was an emotional eater. Left on his own a kid will find something to get into....drugs, alcohol, food, gangs etc.... I guess sports was out of the question at his size....

Prayers he gets his life in order and overcomes this.....

$50,000 bond because her child is fat. I guess it has become illegal to be fat.

IF he has 25% body fat, should the mother be charged with a crime? 25% is the generally accepted level for obesity in men.

Which method should be used to measure body fat?

If your child had 5 cavities, should that be a crime?

There is literally no end to the crimes that can be made up in order to “protect the children.”

Born and raised in South Carolina, Alexander Draper grew up to reach a dangerous 555 pounds by the age of 14.

Half that weight would be dangerous at 14.

My older brother was obese as a child, and my mom (who tried to control what he ate) said he would do things like ask the other kids at school for their leftovers at lunch. So he’d end up eating five helpings of rice instead of his own one. He also stole food at home. So unless you can really keep a kid locked up, you can’t totally control what they eat, and thus their weight.
