This isn’t just a Repub thing, this is a politician in general thing. Let’s face it, for the most part, it has been a long time since politics has drawn in statesmen.. Politicians are the lowest form of career next to lawyers (no offense to good lawyers comparing you to politicians) and people pimping MLMs.

You make it sound like we, the people, are responsible for what he did... We’re not. Only he is... I’m sorry about it as well. But I would never let a dem get away with leaving his wife home for 4 or 5 days and not telling her where he is. I wouldn’t give sanford a pass on it either.
A lot of people, myself included, immediately expected it would be another women. We were right.

Just another Republican Pagan claiming to be Christian.

Clearly Sanford does not belong to an accountability group.

Sanford was right not to take the stimulus money.

Sanford was wrong to cheat on his wife.

People are complex and imperfect.

There’s nothing in the Sanford story that causes me to change my political philosophy. It does make me doubt that Sanford is the right man to be president after Obama.

Seems to me that the only thing that has changed in the political arena is the accessibility of information through the media. There is no longer a buffer zone that was enjoyed by JFK and his predecessors....Politician’s personal lives are no different from other walks of life, including ministers, doctors, lawyers, etc, except they are fair game for the media. The mistake that conservatives make is they hold themselves up to a higher standard and a large percentage cannot live up to that standard....
Was this guy a bad governor?
One thing is for sure, he is a dumba$$.

I feel your pain, brother.
I’m beyond commenting, except for some crazy thoughts that zing through my brain, such as:

These so-called Republican philanderers are Democrats planted long ago (like sleeper FReepers) to come out with “revelations” at timely moments. This is the perfect smokescreen for the havoc being wreaked by Chairman Barry et al.

It’s as good a conspiracy theory as any, don’t you think?

In the meantime, this morning Laura Ingraham asks how long before the Chinese are our masters?

Sanford may be labeled as a republican but he is more
in line with L Ron Paul and the Libertarians.
When he was in congress he voted with Paul.

Many of the L Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin people on FR have been pushing Sanford for Pres.

Also Libertarian bloggers have supported Sanford.

Sanford is the Never ending Joke of the Libertarians.

As I’ve said many many times, RINO Pubbies are just democrats by another name—Sanford’s stance on TARP money notwithstanding.

Why are Republicans/conservatives expected to live book perfect/ saintly lives ? Just because they advocate morality ? It's the classic liberal argument. If you have any personal failing in your life you have no right to advocate morality to others or say what is right and what is wrong. Thus all immoral/ reprobate behavior is exempt from criticism in the liberal world because no one is perfect.
