I drove one once, around 1988. Having been a stick driver all my life, I found the clutch pedal to be like trying to drive a railroad tie into set concrete. Another friend at that time had a Dodge Daytona and the same thing........
I was driving a 1985 Hondal CRX and the clutch was no harder to depress than the break pedal........ The same is true with my now 1995 Honda Del Sol
Clutches in Mustangs are built for MEN!
LOL, just kidding. I have an HHR SS and it has the lightest clutch I’ve ever had — it’s disconcerting to jump into my 2007 Mustang GT and have to actually press hard on the clutch pedal. So I can imagine what you felt!
But like anything else, once you get used to it — it’s different, but not necessarily worse or better. I personally like the heavier clutches (and these days the Mustang clutch is a lot lighter than in the past).

Apples to oranges. Hondas have soft clutches indeed. Always have. You want a stiff clutch? Drive my dad's 89 Chevy Silverado 4x4. Dang, that thing's a workout!
buy Honda then.
