If you live here in Central Florida, Im sure youve seen this plant growing in a friend or neighbors yard. Papaya needs very little to grow well here, it thrives in warm weather with plenty of rainfall -- pretty much the exact description of Central Florida most of the time. If you want to try growing some yourself be sure to provide support for the plant as the fruit grows from the stem of the tree. The papaya plant in the above picture was planted next to a large porch where it could be tied to help keep it from falling over. I took this picture last March while visiting some friends.
Papaya has many health benefits, not to mention being a tasty addition to meal times. You can eat the fruit, drink the juice, or even use the skin of the fruit. If you dont like the taste of papaya, like me, you can get papaya tablets at the local health food store. Here are some of the things that papaya can do for you:
* Aids in the digestion of proteins * Good against digestive disorders * Contains carpain, an enzyme believed to be good for the heart * Is an excellent source of vitamin C * Is an excellent source of carotene * The skin and pulp can be used as a treatment for skin wounds either as a covering to aid in healing or as a poultice.
Heres what Ive personally found to be papayas biggest benefits:
* Relieves acid stomach and heartburn * Helps settle an upset stomach * Eases stomach bloating and gas * Chew several tablets after a big meal; it relieves the I cant believe I ate all of that feeling
Is this one of those *caption this pic* moments?
If I remember, the Lord has created all things for us to enjoy, and everything we need on the planet.
But some things SEEM to have gone out of style. :-(
or....
"Out the window"........to be replaced with man made chemicals.
But, it would be good to know for sure. :-)
I have a good friend who is allergic to Adolph’s for that reason.
At least she used to be.
I haven’t talked to her about it recently.
Health food ping!
Papaya tastes like feet. Hot, sweaty feet. Bleagh.
Ok Fine! ;-) I thought you liked Papaya? Which odd fruit is it you like? Mango?
Hot sweaty feet at the end of LongElegantLegs?
couldn’t help myself...
That would be Mr. Legs. Har!
But yeah, mango is my favorite. :-P
If you like the taste of vomit, which is a shame because it is very easy to grow.
Not as attractive as it may initially sound...Especially after a run!
I don’t know about Ponderosa, but in general it will work that way. It’s the same reason folks cook ham in pineapple: active enzymes.
Vomit is very easy to grow. All you need is some Killian’s Irish Red and a plate of semi-raw chicken wings.
[don’t ask]
LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!
