Innocents? Umm...who would be considered guilty? In other words, someone who deserved to be attacked?

Throw them into a pit full of pit bulls, let them experience what the victims did.

Why don’t they just make it illegal to own pitbulls?

I would vote for tarring and feathering, then drawing and quartering and dipping the pieces in boiling oil.

Well, I don’t think it’s fair to eliminate an entire breed of dog. Pit bulls have been bred over a long period of time to be aggressive- it’s not really their fault. A more humane solution would be to force pit bull owners to cross breed their dogs with a more docile animal- say, a llama or alpaca. That way you’d not only get a calmer, less dangerous pet, but a nice sweater, as well.

Unless you have a junk yard that needs protection, I’ve never understood what motivates people to want tough dogs. Some seem to be compensating for something.

What about the owners of Labrador Retrievers, Springer Spaniels, Great Danes, English Sheep dogs, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans.
These dogs also bite. Why the hysteria about just one breed of dog?

While I picked jail and put the dog down, I didn’t really like the jail option.

Instead, put the dog down, 10,000 dollar fine plus medical expenses and a lifetime ban on this idiot owning any dogs of any type as long as he/she lives in the area.

All this assumes it was an innocent attacked not a burglar or other nefarious type person.

Apparently, by far the most mayhem is done by the Pitbull type dogs, followed by Rottweiler.

I misread it. I thought I was voting for “jail the dog and put the owner down.” My bad.

1. Mexican gangbangers
2. Black gangbangers
3. White gangbangers
4. 7 registered sex offenders within a two-block radius
5. The Mexican ‘underground railroad’ station next door

There, that’s four good reasons, none of which have anything to do with a penis.

Your information source, Merrit Clifton is a flake. He is known for making up numbers.

I think a lot of the problems with Pit Bulls are because too many of them are owned by inner city "Gangsta's". The leftists also use this same group in their propaganda about "Gun Violence".

Thank you for pointing out Clifton’s radicalism.
It never ceases to amaze me how, in their quest
to demonize “pitbulls”, folks will cite that animal rights kook.

Thank you, metalurgist, for the link you provided. I will look into it.

It is not my goal to demonize pit bull type dogs or any other breed of dog. I do read these threads as a source of information, and like other FR threads there is interesting debate going on.

I am interested in accurate sources of information/statistics. Gun rights is a major area of interest for me. I have seen John Lott speak and I believe that he is a trustworthy researcher.

Gun rights and pit bull issues do overlap, such as when the state infringes the right to carry a firearm for defense from attack.

By the way, kanawa, I went down to Wal-Mart and bought a Buck 119 after reading how you defended your self and your dog with one :-)
