Bloomington, Illinois, June 1, 2009 State Farm® has been named one of the Best Companies for Multicultural Women by Working Mother.
State Farm is joined by a cross-section of companies who share a common bond: placing diversity and inclusion firmly at the top of their workplace agenda each and every day. Companies across the country were evaluated on representation, training, development and advancement of multicultural women.
Leveraging the unique talents, thoughts and experiences of our associates helps us better serve our customers, said Laura Haas, assistant vice president, Diversity/Human Resources. Thats why State Farm is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
At State Farm diversity and inclusion is thought of holistically.
Its about the workplace, marketplace, community, and supplier diversity, said Haas. We continue to encourage diversity and inclusion as a mind-set in all aspects of our business.

In otherwords, not who can sell the most insurance policies.
What is a “multicultural woman”, anyway? Don’t they really mean the same thing they always mean: “Best Company for Angry, Agenda-Driven, Affirmative Action Hires? :)
What's the difference between a multicultural woman and a regular woman? Does the multicult have a chip on her shoulder or something?
I guess they mean that State Farm is great for women of ethnicity other than Caucasian. Or do they really mean women of more than one race or culture? In any case, why would be it be better there for one woman than another? This is all just absurd and companies need to stop it. If they paid more attention to doing business and competing than to the color of their employees’ skin, we might be doing much better. (Yes, I know it’s not the fault of the businesses...)
Silly me. I thought “it” was about “value” - providing the highest quality products and superior service at the best possible price. I guess I don’t understand much about “business” these days... except perhaps that its practitioners are allowing themselves to be guided by fear of and dependence on the Federal government.
No, no, no. You obviously haven’t been paying attention. We can’t hurt peoples’ feelings. Thats why it is so overrated to have scores at kids t-ball and baseball games. Everyone needs a fair shake. Come on you know we need to cap failure. The only way to do that is to cap success. /s
Diversity at State Farm does not include Christianity. I know. I tried.
I booked a room at State Farm headquarters to share the gospel with anyone who was willing to visit with me. Nothing strange. Just straight, simple gospel. No fanfare. Just a posting and invitation.
I was shut down after one session. My supervisor said I might “offend” someone.
What in the world is a multicultural woman? Someone whose parents come from several different foreign countries?
Please include a BARF ALERT when posting corporate press releases that STINK as much as this one.
Thanks
