The school I teach at in Japan just equipped the faculty room with ACER laptop computers ( each teacher gets his or her own to use at school ) . They seem to be well made and designed and the vice-principal , a computer geek , says they are very highly regarded in Japan . These laps came with XP Pro and are fast and sleek . I'm in the market for a new computer ( now using an 8 year old Fujitsu desktop with 256 memory which is obsolete , and the monitor just crapped out last week . Would appreciate any and all comments . The model we got goes for about 60,000 yen which is a nice price ( 200mhz ; 2 GB ) .
Yes.
Bad.
I have one. I don’t really like it for games, but for word processing it is fine. I think what I do not like is VISTA. Otherwise, my acer laptop seems okay.
Mine has only half a gig of RAM. That is why it sucks for games.
Yes, good.
I have an Acer Laptop right now and love it. I’m not a tech geek but it fulfills fully what I need to do, easy to handle... well I can’t complain. Probably not the answer you need... LOL.
All I need it for is email ; web surfing ; CD burning ; word processing ...the normal stuff . I’m no geek either !
ACER makes a pretty good laptop. I know lots of people that have them. No higher complaint rate than Dell or Lenovo or any of the other top-tier vendor. There’s nothing wrong with including them in the decision matrix for a new machine. IMHO
I whole heartily endorse comparison shopping at Newegg.com.
Best Prices selection and terrific service.
I had a notebook. The mother board fried right after the warranty ran out.
I don’t know about their computers but we have an ACER monitor that we purchased in 2006. It’s still going. We actually purchased two and one of them crapped out just a couple of months after the purchase. Of course we couldn’t return it to the store at that point and it was a real pain to try and find out how to get it fixed. We never were able to speak with a live customer service person. We finally managed to get some information about returns over the internet, but didn’t bother sending it back.
I agree with the poster above that suggested Newegg. Also try Tiger Direct Online. The are my personal favorite.
Yes. Not good.
But perhaps the models available in Japan are better.
Good computers. Get one built to your specs or chose one that has what you want.
Good dependable computers. And yes, I do have experience with Acer laptops.
I am a geek, and an IT professional. Do yourself a favor and buy an Apple computer (laptop or desk top) 15+ years working with MS and I dumped the whole sheebang for MAC.
Acer’s fine have an Acer laptop... good bang for the lower buck.. but you can have some driver issues.. Acer is the company the bought Gateway Computers and there about in the same ballpark
Acer’s used to be considered not very good, but in the last couple of years have improved greatly.
Both the laptops and monitors are considered very good and reliable now. Check out the reviews on newegg.com.
I have an old Fujitsu laptop and it’s not very good. The AC connector on the mobo has broken off 2 times, plus the screen hinges broke once. It’s old and very slow. No more Fujitsu for me.
Got one on Newegg for my Daughter no complaints she loves it ... 300 smackers cheap
Coming to you through an Acer Aspire 3680 w/Vista.
HATE the operating system. Hardware seems OK, except for the battery, which for some reason discharges in about 45 minutes.
But I do most things from a desk anyway, so no big deal.
