I have been an AT&T customer since they were AT&T wireless...Cingular...and AT&T again and I feel as if I am being nickeled and dimed to death by these b@stards. Its not like I already pay a premium for my iPhone plan (actually FOUR iPhone plans as my wife and two daughters have their own iPhones). Call AT&T support and politely ask to be allowed to upgrade. If they repeat the demand for the $200, ask to speak to a "retention specialist." Talk to them about the new Palm Pre and switching to Sprint and how you might enjoy it. They do not want to lose customers. That kind of talk has gotten me lots of concessions in the past...

That sounds like a plan to me! I’m sure they would do something to keep all that money I’m forking out monthly to them.
