Do you remember anything that he/she said?
it was hot and indoors...I was not paying attention as I could not wait to get the hell out of there (St. John’s Univ/NY)....
Fred Barnes.
“How to live a Christian life is a secular world.”, or something close to that.
Some bozo whackjob liberal who gave a screed filled with lefty talking points. I skipped the commencement and graduation for my second degree.
I can’t remember. That was several brain cells ago.
My High School speaker was a Puerto Rico independence movement leader. Good guy, honest about what he wants.
I don’t think I could remember the college commencement speaker if you paid me. I was a little bit...indisposed...we had spent the night before drinking heavily and had barely stopped by the time we had to be there. The 3 hour ceremony was spent mostly asleep.
University graduation (Penn State) was James Michener, who spoke about traveling to and comparing 6 great world capitols
Grad School speaker (Univ of Colorado) was Armand Hammer who gave about a 3 sentence speech, basically “oil shale is the future of America”
President Ronald Reagan
Impressive beyond all belief, having been there it is an absolute joke to hear people talk about Barack Obama and most other pretenders, as great speakers.
Marine helicopters over flying the crowd as he landed beyond the platform, his physical presence, his voice, sincerity, strength, sense of humor, wisdom. He appealed directly to everyone there from the students to the parents to octogenarian former graduates in attendance, he was absolutely magnificent, I have always said he was like your wise beloved grandfather times ten.
Some guy.
I had some school board speaker who was so boring that he could have put “Mr Coffee” to sleep.
We had a commencement speaker?
That I would have remembered.
Gen. Douglas MacArthur. And no.
1988 USCGA - Ronald Reagan was the commencement speaker. I have a picture of him handing me my commission.
Yes, I know. Very blessed.
The university speaker was a raving moonbat whose name I wont mention, but then again, I was busy checking out the hotties in the crowd.
However, the pre-grad speaker was the co-founder of Intel who as a young man ESCAPED from a communist country, landed in America without speaking a sword of English, yet managed to build Intel into a formidable tech company. Everyone got up and cheered when at first, everyone wanted to fall asleep just to get the final grade.
John Houseman.
Francis Cardinal George. Never compromise on the truth.
Not a clue, but then again, I didn’t go.
I’d take boring over liberal, myself.
