On the country music side, I think Tony Rice is worthy of recognition.

What a terrible list. Alex Lifeson of RUSH is easily in the top 5.For La Villa Strangiato alone.

That piece was in Keaggy's league as far as technique and "cleanness".
But it doesn't have that "captivating" feel of Phil's best work.
Nonetheless, well DONE.
Cheers!

My God, that was piercingly sweet.
Thanks.
And here's one in return, with a backhanded reference to Phil Keaggy again...classical composer Smetana's "The Moldau".
Glass Harp
Cheers!

Kind of eerie in a way....some people amaze me how they can dedicate themselves to something off the wall like that.

The list is nothing without blues player Gary Moore. His version of Pareiseinne Walkways can bring a woman to her knees. Only guitarist that's ever had that effect on me.

Must have Jeff Beck and Alvin Lee (10 Years After) on the list.

I guess he can play more than one at a time.

"http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/5937559 Jerry Garcia and Kurt Cobain ahead of Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler and Buddy Guy? Ridiculous.

"I know Ill catch $hit for this, but I think John Mayer is a top 20 guitarist. I saw him on Austin City Limits with Buddy Guy. Hes a hell of a good blues guitarist. Top 20 all-time or living? Living sure, all-time probably not. But, the RollingStone piece that was mentioned earlier in the thread doesn't even have him in the top 100 of all time, which is silly.
I don't really care for his music, but I've heard him a few times in person and he's very good. Keith Urban isn't on any of these lists either, which I found very odd.
