I think this is a similar phenomenon as what I experienced with my liberal relatives re: George Bush. They thought I loved the guy, and that I agreed with everything he did, but I really didn't. It's just that some attacks on him were so plain *idiotic* that I spent most of my time arguing those. They never understood that I was very open about criticizing him on immigration, nation-building, spending, etc.
I agree with SaraJohnson's take...Christ never said that the gates of hell wouldn't attack the Church, He just said they wouldn't prevail.
We should all throw stones at the evil within our own churches. There is plenty to go around. That thing about removing the beam from one’s own eye before picking at the splinters in the eye of another...
For some folks the best defense of church based sexual sin is the offense of attacking another church’s sexual sin. We have big sin going on in all the churches right now and it does not make everyone in that institution a participant. But some people do not understand this.
The faith and truth in Jesus of some folks - in all churches - is threatened by the sin of people and leaders in their own church. In that case, better to ridicule the imperfections of members and leaders in another church rather than lose one’s shakey faith in admitting to and dealing with one’s own imperfect human institution.
In the endtimes one’s faith and bond to truth in Jesus will have to be strong enough to stand alone as church institutions fall to the total leadership and dominance of evil. Jesus will prevail and so will many Christians/ Catholics in His eyes.

But you have attracted this ugly thing to you by saying the anti-Christ will be centered in the Catholic church when that is not true. It is going rule over all previously Christian churches rather than just act as the termites within, as it does now.

FWIW, in talking with associates and friends who voted for 0. My question to them is always the same, "Any second thoughts yet?". The response quickly tells me if it's worth talking.
