I think this is a similar phenomenon as what I experienced with my liberal relatives re: George Bush. They thought I loved the guy, and that I agreed with everything he did, but I really didn't. It's just that some attacks on him were so plain *idiotic* that I spent most of my time arguing those. They never understood that I was very open about criticizing him on immigration, nation-building, spending, etc.
I agree with SaraJohnson's take...Christ never said that the gates of hell wouldn't attack the Church, He just said they wouldn't prevail.

I do wish you well, as I do every Christian church, in fighting the non biblical liberals that are seeking to turn evil into good.
FWIW, in talking with associates and friends who voted for 0. My question to them is always the same, "Any second thoughts yet?". The response quickly tells me if it's worth talking.
