Immediately following a speech by former Vice President Dick Cheney on Thursday, MSNBC assembled its usual panel of left-wing pundits to tear him down, including political analyst Lawrence ODonnell, who proclaimed: "Well, he came today to -- obviously to do nothing much other than defend torture, which he calls 'tough questioning.' This was as sleazy a presentation by a vice president as we've had since Spiro Agnew. This was an absolute abomination."
Chris Matthews anchored the coverage and had just asked ODonnell: "Lawrence, can he get away with this? Giving a speech that's -- well, it was 16 pages long -- and never mention the main foreign policy initiative of the administration just passed, which is the war in Iraq." After ODonnell denounced Cheneys sleaziness, he went on this diatribe:

Big deal, who cares what they think or say other than their audience of 200K that will get tingles up their legs.
Don't go away mad... just go away fool.
free speach!
“This was as sleazy a presentation by a vice president as we’ve had since Spiro Agnew.”
How much you wanna bet this guy doesn’t remember a solitary Agnew speech, just knows the guy was a felon.

“Lawrence, can he get away with this? Giving a speech that’s — well, it was 16 pages long — and never mention the main foreign policy initiative of the administration just passed, which is the war in Iraq.”
Would discussing Iraq have been germane? Did Obama bring it up? I thought this hullabaloo was about Gitmo and torture, not the invasion, which as you may recall Congress agreed to out in the open.
Matthews is so very, very irrelevant.

Do you think Cheney has any White House plans in 2012?
Mark Levin really went off on this on his radio show. He told his producer to contact MSLSD (as he puts it) and get this O’Donnell guy on his show so he could confront him and see if he (O’Donnell) can defend himself like a man. I would say he went on about this for maybe 10 minutes. He was quite angry. Anyone think O’Donnell will really accept the challenge?
I hope so. He is the best man for the job. And one of four people I think could be trusted with our nation. Cheney, Newt, Keys, Palin. There are some others but these are my preferences in order.
