The next twist into Pelosi-gate?
You can debate whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi deserves a gate at the end of her name. In the meantime, one congressman thinks the FBI should be called in to investigate Pelosis charge that the CIA misled Congress on Bush administration interrogation techniques (enhanced, harsh, or torture, depending on your politics) against war-on-terror detainees.
CNN reports that California Congressman Darrell Issa, a Republican, believes the FBI could shed some light on the issue. Perhaps trying to protect himself from charges that the call is politically motivated, Issa says as a member of the House Judiciary Committee that CIA credibility affects his ability to perform.
If CIA is lying to any of us and I have been briefed many times by them on the Intelligence Committee it puts me in a position of not being able to do my job properly, Issa said.
CNN says FBI director Robert Mueller reportedly is looking into the charge to see if an investigation is warranted.
Making friends
Politico reports that Arlen Specter, the Republican-turned-Democrati senator from Pennsylvania, is siding with Pelosis take on the CIA.
The CIA has a very bad record when it comes to honesty. It goes back a long time, Specter said, speaking at an American Law Institute event.
During my tenure as chairman of the Intelligence Committee during the 104th Congress, there were repeated instances where we didnt get information that was there, he added.
Its a real problem as to how you get the information.
Resign
No need for more information from the FBI, said another House Speaker, the former one from Georgia. Pelosi should just resign, Newt Gingrich said while appearing on Good Morning America today.
She really disqualified herself to be the speaker, he said.

No Congressman Darrell Issa, you RINO, the FBI should do a J. Edgar Hoover job on Pelosi-O.
Sand, I got the impression that he was calling for an investigation into seeing who was lying Pelosi or the CIA.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I’m not familiar with Issa.
I think he may have a good tactic because the longer this stays in the news the better. Pelosi would also have to be questioned.
Yeap, and under oath.
Yeah on further investigation that is what it appears to be and it is probably a good tactic. I’d prefer they just call for Pelosi’s head every day.
Hey Arlen STFU! ..and get someone to wipe the oatmeal off your chin already.
Issa, Bilbray and Hunter are 3 of our 5 congressmen in San Diego.
They are conservative Republicans.
You are correct, he is trying to show that Pelosi is
blowing smoke and doesn’t have a clue.
CIA Lied or the Old lady Lied.
That might look nice on a T-shirt. ;>)
A request for an investigation from the FBI may be our only recourse for a resolution to this.
Thing is I dont think there is very much love loss between the FBI and the CIA.
Nancy Pelosi is Guilty as hell and she knows it.Lets let the chips fall where they may.After-all Congress is supposed to have over-site of the CIA and she had to know what was going on there.
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t think Panetta would let anyone be railroaded in his group plus the FBI really isn’t a big fan of Pelosi.
LOL!
Nancey forgot the first rule of politics, only pick fights you can win.
"Arlen, you said that just like Rahm told you to.
So Bwaney's gonna stop by later. When you bend over, you'll get a
Slim Jim and a Slurpee. Just Bwaney's way of saying 'welcome to the party.' "
Pure as the driven snow. No one in Chicago even comes close.
Issa issa butt wipe.
He and his brother ran a massive juvenile crime syndicate, but his records are sealed under California law.
