close, you have to slit the chicken’s throat and let it bleed out. I knew a guy who had once seen a halal chicken plant in operation and he said it was surreal. They played a recording of a cleric reading prayers from the Koran, and so long as the prayer was playing the workers would run around grabbing chickens and slitting as many throats as possible. He described it as a vile bloody mess. But once the recording of the Koran ended the killing had to end too. Where’s PETA?

Perhaps for family consumption. For KFC, they take one “volunteer” chicken and strap explosives on it. Later that chicken blows the flock up, as it were.

. . . but some Muslims say it hasn't been killed in the correct Islamic way. Not just simple beheading, but sawing off the head in a gruesome way with a serrated knife while chanting Allah Akbar and videotaping the bloody spectacle?
