Woo Hoo! The third in the Foreign Enemies series by Matt Bracken (FReeper Travis McGee) just showed up in my mail box. I sent in a check in advance to get an autographed copy! The full title "Foreign Enemies and Traitors, The Greater Depression and Civil War 2" seems very timely!
If you actually go to the Amazon web site to order the book, they (as of Thursday night) say it “usually ships in two to four weeks”.
If you order a book directly from Matt you will probably get a postcard in the mail instructing on how to order the next book in advance!
I ordered mine from him a few weeks ago - hopefully it’s in the batch of 650 he just finished sending out.
But at the very end of the batch; I just finished the first two and need to catch up on my sleep.
I sent in my payment back in January or February, right after I got the postcard in the mail from Matt. I will have to log in to Amazon to leave a review. Other FReepers should do the same! Booksellers seem to be liberals so we need to help counter their lunacy.
Amazon has no humans working there. It’s the borg. Totally automated, run by Tandy TRS-80 computers.
Once the 75 books arrive in a day or two, the website will automatically switch to saying the books are immediately available. No human will make this change or care. Amazon is just a vast Pentagon sized building staffed by robots and run by computers.
Almost all of the Dec-Feb orders were mailed by May 13. Then I went to AZ for the NRA thing for 4 days, and the rest were shipped yesterday. So you should have it pronto, either way. But I use “Media Mail” rate, so there are no guarantees on speedy delivery. Typically it’s under a week coast to coast. Alaska is the outlier, it can take weeks.
As I mentioned before, but I'll remind you - your trilogy has become REQUIRED READING for our Children and Grand Children - if they wish to remain in the will or for the college age kids if they wish to continue receiving “granny dollars” in their college checking account...
It works - and they have been passing the quizzes - so I know they have paid attention....
Thanks again for your prompt shipments..
After this trilogy has been completed is there anything in the future? Note: have not read the third book yet so don’t know if there is a continuation.
Nope, after FEAT, I’m finished with these characters. It really begins to box a writer in, having to live inside the constraints of a long lasting complex fictional world. I still intend to write some “future fiction,” but with a new world and characters.
I will have to take my time and enjoy FEAT then. Sorry to hear it is the last in the series, but I understand. I remember this was to be a trilogy.
I just feel too constrained now, in being forced to paint within the lines laid down by the three novels in the trilogy. My next works will be on a similar line, but in a new world with new characters.
You could reuse Brian Bardiwell/Fallon/Garabanda in 20-or-so (story) years.
You never know. Never say never. I’m pretty much about new territory these days though. And shorter books with quicker turn around times.
Just wondering if you have gotten any government threats or intrusion the way that John Ross did for Unintended Consequences?
thanks, bfl
Nah. I’m too small to show up on radar. Remember, they were the same guys who couldn’t figure out what dozens of muslims taking “flying only” flight lessons meant before 9-11.
bttt
You are probably viewed as more dangerous to the current national administration since you value freedom and the muslim fanatics are almost fellow travelers in totalitarian belief systems with the Hoping Changers. I hope more states assert their rights and throw dirt in the face of dear leader zer0. The Wyoming gun freedom movement is worth watching!
