SUV slams into Burger King restaurant in Renton, WA (Never the driver's fault?)

(0) An SUV remains embedded in the wall of a fast-food restaurant after it slammed into the building in Renton early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at the Burger King at Sunset Boulevard North at Northeast Third Street shortly after 3 a.m., leaving a gaping hole in the building.

The SUV will not be removed from the building until engineers can inspect the building's stability. No one is allowed inside the restaurant for safety reasons, police said.

Renton police said the crash occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle as she came careening down the hill on Northeast Third Street.

The woman and her front seat passenger were transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening head injuries.

A third person in the back seat of the car was taken to Valley Medical Center with leg injuries.

Two people who were inside the restaurant at the time were not hurt.

The intersection of Sunset and Third was closed for about an hour during the investigation. The intersection reopened at 6:15 a.m.

Police said drugs, alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash.

As Rush always says, the SUV's are always the culprit, not a car, truck or ---- even a driver!

Ping!

It wasn’t me. I’ve been at work all day, and my evil SUV was locked in the garage.

Don’t you just hate it when you let your SUV go out for the night, and they come home like this?

I’ve had a breakfast sandwich from that BK! (Nothing intelligent to add to the conversation, though.)

It was about four years ago, so I think I was pretty safe.

SUV’s are the thugs of the auto world. You never see a Smart Car or Prius doing these sort of things.

My wife saw this mess. The car was still embedded in the kitchen area when she drove past. Its right at the bottom of the hill with a Red-Light Camera controlled intersection.

I think 2/3rds of the lights in Renton have the red-light cameras. I get popped in the eye at least once or twice a month by the one on Grady/167 malfunctioning.
