What I’d do is uninstall any copies free or otherwise on the system completely and then try reinstalling. You most certainly should not go buy a new PC to remedy this. Maybe buy a personal copy of Office. You can find teacher/student versions for under $200 dollars. If you lived nearby I’d help you out.

I was just trying to stop the solutions of "Get a Mac" or "Get Linux" before they started.
The only MS Office product that was on the system was Powerpoint Presenter (or viewer or something) 2007. I already deleted that, but it didn't help.

Heck you should find student versions for less than 100, I paid 69 for mine and could have purhased it even cheaper from the campus computer store.
